With SocialHub, you always have your comments, messages, and mentions in view. Social Listening allows you to look beyond your horizons, as this feature enables you to monitor specific keywords or hashtags related to your company. This way, you can always see how people are talking about your brand, products, or campaigns outside your own social channels.
Social Listening is an additional feature that needs to be activated by your personal SocialHub contact person. If you are interested in the feature, feel free to reach out via happy@socialhub.io.
We've provided a suitable video tutorial for illustration. English subtitles and alternative audio are available:
You can create and configure a new Social Listening search under Account > Social Listening:
Each month, you have 25 keywords available in SocialHub for your searches. You can, of course, adjust your keywords at any time, provided you stay within your limit. However, there are a few important points to consider:
- If you need more keywords, an upgrade is possible. Simply contact happy@socialhub.io
- Excluded keywords do not count toward your keyword usage.
- If you delete a keyword, this change will only take effect with the next monthly keyword reset.
An example: You have reached your keyword limit and now want to delete a keyword and add another one. The deletion of the keyword will only take effect after the monthly reset. This means that you have to wait until the reset to ‘free up space’. Only then can you add the new keyword.
How is keyword usage calculated
If you enter multiple keywords within a group, each keyword is counted as a used keyword.
However, if you work in groups, the keyword searches count as search combinations.
Let's consider the following scenario:
Here, we have 2 keywords in one group and 1 in another. The keyword usage here is not three but two because the keywords act as a combination. Essentially, the search is #socialhub + #monitoring and #socialhubio + #monitoring. So, there are 2 combinations and, therefore, 2 consumed keywords.
Suppose we were to add #sociallistening to group 2. The keyword usage would rise to 4 because the search would be for #socialhub + #monitoring, #socialhub + #sociallistening, #socialhubio + #monitoring, and #socialhubio + #sociallistening.
In essence, with groups, you should always calculate in combinations and not in individual keywords.
Important: After you've created a new Social Listening search or edited an existing one, it may take up to an hour for the change to take effect. Social Listening searches are not retroactively effective. They only find content published after a Social Listening search is activated. Also, it's never possible to find all the content that gets published, as even a search engine like Google cannot crawl the entire internet.
Some tips on how to use the Social Listening feature:
- Narrow your search as best as you can by using AND and OR conditions. If a Social Listening search returns too many results, it will be automatically deactivated.
- You can exclude certain websites and Twitter users that generate too many search results from the search.
- Limit a Social Listening search to one country or one language. However, this option can also quickly exclude results, so use it wisely.
