When publishing images and videos on the different social networks, there are some things that need to be considered. Not every image or video can be published because every network has specific rules. You will find everything you need to know to successfully publish posts via the SocialHub on this page.
You came here because you uploaded an image/video to the SocialHub and got an error message? Read this: Why can't I upload an image/video?

Why can I upload an image/video that the SocialHub does not accept directly to the network?
The SocialHub uses so-called APIs to communicate with the various networks. Indeed, there is a difference whether an image/video is uploaded directly to the network itself or whether it is published via API. Of course, the networks prefer that users sign in directly on their website or at least use their app. Sure, they can only show advertisements and earn money with it then. That's why the APIs are sometimes restricted which should make our lives a little harder. But this is no problem, because we know the limitations now and as long as we are within these limits we can also publish pictures and videos via the SocialHub.
Why can't I upload an image/video?
Admittedly, the error messages are somewhat cryptic. We will adjust this in the future to make them more meaningful. In the meantime this list will help you:
"Media resolution ratio is invalid. It should be greater than 0.8 (width / height)." or "Media resolution ratio is invalid. It should be lower than 1.91 (width / height)."
This error message refers to the aspect ratio of the image. An example: For Instagram, the aspect ratio must be between 4:5 and 1.91:1. An aspect ratio of 4:5 means that an image with a width of 400 pixels must not be higher than 500 pixels. The aspect ratio of 1.91:1 specifies that an image with a width of 400 pixels can be a maximum of 764 pixels high. The width and height of the image are interchangeable. However, the image size must be within this range.
"Total number of pixels cannot be greater than 40000000." or "Total number of pixels cannot be less than 10000."
This error message refers to the amount of pixels of the image. An example: For LinkedIn an image may contain up to 40 million pixels. This means that a square image with a width of 6324 pixels can have a maximum height of 6324 pixels. If one of the two values is lower, the other can be higher. Simply multiply the width and height of the image. This value must be smaller or larger (depending on the error message) than the value indicated by the message.
"Media width too big. It should be smaller than 8192 pixels." or "Media width too small. It should be bigger than 8192 pixels."
This error message refers to the width of the image. If the image is too large, you can simply edit it using an image editing program and scale it to the appropriate width. This isn't that simple with too small images. If you simply enlarge them, the image quality might suffer. You should use the source file from which the image was created. If you didn't create the image yourself, it's best to talk to the person you received the image from.
"Media height too big. It should be smaller than 8192 pixels." or "Media height too small. It should be bigger than 8192 pixels."
This error message refers to the height of the image. If the image is too large, you can simply edit it using an image editing program and scale it to the appropriate height. This isn't that simple with too small images. If you simply enlarge them, the image quality might suffer. You should use the source file from which the image was created. If you didn't create the image yourself, it's best to talk to the person you received the image from.
"Media file too large. It should be smaller than 4194304 bytes."
This error message refers to the file size. The number 4194304 is equivalent to 4 MB. This is the maximum size of an image file for Facebook.
"The file cannot be smaller than 73.24 KB."
The uploaded file is below the minimum requirements of the network. The image must be re-uploaded in a higher resolution or better quality.
"Video duration is invalid. It should be less than 140s." or "Video duration is invalid. It should be more than 140s."
This error message refers to the length of the video in milliseconds. Simply divide the value by 1000 to get the value in seconds. The video must not be longer or shorter (depending on the error message) than this value.
Pixel aspect ratio should equal 1:1.
This error message refers to the width of a pixel relative to its height. A pixel aspect ratio of 1:1 means that width and height must be identical.
"Number of frames cannot be greater than 60." or "Number of frames cannot be less than 10."
This error message refers to how many frames a video contains per second. For the video to be accepted and published by the network, the limit must be met.
Max. 100 MB video size allowed for Instagram posts
This error message refers to the file size. The file is too large and may not exceed 100 MB for Instagram posts.
